By Clodagh and Dick Handscombe

Holistic gardeners authors and gardening coaches living in Spain for 25 years

March can be a challenge

For many February was a difficult gardening month. Nights were mainly cold, with frosts well below zero in many gardens even less than a kilometre from the coast and many exotic plants were blackened. Night time winds caused air frosts even when thermometers showed above zero so plants in high up on apartment terraces had leaves burnt.Fruit trees suffered also. Avocados in Andalusia and citrus and stone fruits further north.
